Mantis VS Dog


The real tragedy was played out in front of passers-by in the park on one fine day. Little red dog met unusual rival in the brave soothsayer. Of course, the outcome of the battle was predictable, as its winner. But we must pay tribute to the praying mantis – he fought like a hero. He died with honor. The last photo dog even decided to honor the memory of the opponent and pretend that she too had fallen in battle.

Four men dressed as Smurfs were arrested in Australia Tuesday after authorities called for the costumed men to come forward in connection with a Dec. 16 assault at a convenience store. According to the Age, the men, with skin painted blue like the fictional characters from the cartoon, allegedly assaulted a 37-year-old man at a Melbourne convenience store when he reportedly refused to light a cigarette he offered to one of the "Smurfs." The unidentified victim passed out in a car and only recalled the incident upon waking, a police spokeswoman said, the Herald Sun notes. Parasitic Worms May Help Treat Diseases Associated With Obesity

Jan. 8, 2013 — On the list of undesirable medical conditions, a parasitic worm infection surely ranks fairly high. Although modern pharmaceuticals have made them less of a threat in some areas, these organisms are still a major cause of disease and disability throughout much of the developing world. But parasites are not all bad, according to new research by a team of scientists now at the University of Georgia, the Harvard School of Public Health, the Université François Rabelais in Tours, France, and the Central South University, Changsha, Hunan, China. A study published recently in  Nature Medicine  demonstrates that once inside a host, many parasitic worms secrete a sugar-based anti-inflammatory molecule that might actually help treat metabolic disorders associated with obesity.
